Scrawny lil\’ neighbour Venom?

y42 writes, Rumour has it that Topher Grace, better known as Eric, the lovable teenager from That 70’s Show, will play the ridiculously large and muscular villain Venom in Spider man 3. The good news is: New Line will not be making a Spider-man-free stand alone Venom movie.

  1. Not necessarily Venom
Ain’t It Cool News reported that Grace would play Venom,
and that Thomas Hayden Church would play Sandman. However,
comic book resources had an article contradicting that,
which (I think) would make a better movie, though I wish I
hadn’t read it because it could be a critical spoiler.
I’ll post it here to be read while highlighted, but I
recommend against reading it. SPOILER: Both actors play Chameleon, though they don’t
that’s who Grace’s character is until half way
    through.

Casting Topher Grace as Eddie Brock certainly wouldn’t be a huge stretch if they’re playing it “Ultimate style.” Whatever direction they go, Sam Raimi’s given us reason to trust that everything will work out fine.

One thing that bothers me is that in looking at the IMDB entry for Spidey 3 I don’t see JK Simmons listed. I assume they’ll be bringing him back to play JJ Jameson, but I keep hoping he’ll get more screen time. He’s just perfect in that role.

Although I didn’t like the spidey movies nearly as much as I should (one of those “I like the character so much I can’t look past the movie’s flaws” things), I do agree that J.J. was perfect, though under used.
