Supernatural Discussion – “Phantom Traveler”

Last night saw a new type of demon on
Supernatural, which seemed tailor made for
those who don’t care to fly.

  1. No we didn’t
We saw a few seconds of baseball because sports preempted our regularly scheduled program, again.

I’m sure it played at around 1:20 am or something, but this isn’t Firefly… and we weren’t friday.

Hey, at least you got baseball. I thought my mythbox was broken because all I had was a blank screen. After switching to regular TV, I noticed it wasn’t my PVR. Well maybe I’ll catch the Sunday showing.

Ah, to be Canadian and to not have your shows preempted by sports (though that may have more to do with union strikes than nationality).

Make a point to catch this, as I think it might be the strongest show so far. They’re still ignoring the monetary funds, and were I reviewing the show that would have been my low point – I know they’re scamming credit cards via identity theft, but to buy tickets at the drop of a hat, even domestic ones? That should still cost more than they have. The other low was the not getting caught at the hanger, as they had no real reason to leave by the back door. The effects were solid (only the obviously fake ones for the crashing planes looked fake, and the demon was well done), plus both Jensen Ackles and Jared Paladecki are giving solid work, being able to play off each other effectively.

I’m going to stand by my conviction that this is the best genre show to come out this season. I’m still watching Surface, but I’m saddened by their willingness to ‘show’ the creatures, as I felt the Alien approach was superior, and I’m only giving Threshold another week due to Spiner and Dinklage.

And for those looking for a laugh, you might want to check out the IMDB page for Threshold here. Scroll down to the user comments – my favourite is “The advantage is having the wonderful Brannon Braga at the helm of the writing, who I consider one of the best scifi writers in the business today.”

        Wow, just wow.

Except if your signal comes from south of the border : (

Hell, I used to have ST:TNG preempted by some preacher all the time back in the days, on a canadian channel! Man, was I glad when Global came in to town and made that one obsolete. Sigh.

agreed, supernatural is great. if you love the monster of the week eps of x-files you’ll love this show.

  2. Phone number works for some
There are rumours that the phone number from this episode,
866-907-3235, actually works, and gets you to Dean’s voice
mail. I just tried it and was told it could not be reached
from my calling area. Does it work for anyone else?
