Weekly Comics Discussion – January 4, 2006

The shipping
lists
are up. Note that the holidays mean that
most locations won’t get shipments until Thursday,
rather than Wednesday this week.

DC Comics

  • DAY OF VENGEANCE INFINITE CRISIS SPECIAL – Filling
    in a few more
gaps to tie into the new series.
  • EXTERMINATORS #1 (MR) – I don’t remember the
    solicitation text on
this one, but as an issue #1, it may be worth a
    look.
  • Y THE LAST MAN #41 – This issue has had very good
    reviews.

Marvel Comics

  • ASTONISHING X-MEN SAGA #1 – A recap of issues
    1-12.
  • ESSENTIAL OFFICIAL HANDBOOK OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE
    VOL 1 TP – This
will probably take longer to read than any other
    Essential, and it’s
long out of date. (This is the series from the
    1980s.) It’ll be
interesting to compare to where the characters are
    today, though.
  • NEW AVENGERS VOL 1 BREAKOUT TP – The review of
    this is long
overdue. I hope to finish the 40 Years of
    Spider-Man
    review
by the end of the month and finally get caught up on
    the others once
    that’s done.
  • SUPREME POWER NIGHTHAWK #5 (OF 6) (MR) – This
    series has actually
impressed me. I’m looking forward to seeing it play
    out.
  • X-MEN THE END MEN AND X-MEN #1 (OF 6) – The third
    “series in a
series” kicks off. I’ll probably review all three as
    a set when it’s
    done.
