Another light week ahead. There’s usually a drought
in movie going and movie renting until Valentine’s Day
each year, and release schedules tend to reflect this.
First, the genre releases:
David Lynch. Expect the truly bizarre.
The Complete Series: I loved this series when I
was in junior
high. The bonus episode that came with the latest
Smallville didn’t live up to those memories,
Season 5, Collection 3: This gets a season five.
I look at the
shows that didn’t, and become totally confused.
Series 7: If these were more cost effective, I’d
have them all.
Puerto Rico Trilogy: Includes Last Woman on
Creature From The Haunted Sea, and Battle
Now, the non-genre releases:
Well: A Criterion Collection release of the
Gardener: An art film directed by the director of
God. Could be worth a look.
Society: This is a special edition release of the
Bueller’s Day Off – Bueller Bueller Edition: Spend
the day with
the sausage king of Chicago.
Vietnam: Another special edition of a Robin
Magnificent Seven: This is a two disc special
edition. I prefer
Eye: I saw
many ads for this, and still don’t know what it was
of the Pink
Panther: Peter Sellers was in this, from the
Films of David
Lynch: A collection of shorts from the very
Finally, the pick of the week. Ferris Bueller’s
takes the title easily, especially since this column
is being written
by a guy who grew up in the 1980s. A true must-see.
