“Hostel” Opens at Number 1

It was a very quiet weekend at the box office. This time of year is one of the dumping grounds for Hollywood’s crap. Oh, and don’t bother looking for Bloodrayne on the charts, it only made #19. And after 8 solid weeks, Harry Potter finally slides of the top 10 to number 14.

  1. Hostel *
  2. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
  3. King Kong
  4. Fun with Dick and Jane
  5. Cheaper by the Dozen 2
  6. Munich
  7. Memoirs of a Geisha
  8. Brokeback Mountain
  9. Rumor Has It
  10. The Family Stone

More facts and figures from Box Office Mojo.

Bloodrayne got released? HAH! I gotta see it just to find out what a train wreck it turned out to be. Stop giving Uwe Boll money!

    This genre is sick
I am honestly disturbed that this new genre of horror is so popular. Movies like Saw and Hostel should never have been made. It sickens me that people find the gruesome torture and murder in movies like this entertaining. Unlike the victims in these movies, I hope this genre dies quickly.

Whats even more sad is that it will make more money than Serenity.

There are a lot worse out there, go take a look in the comments on IMDB of any seriously scary movie and you’ll find names to some that are seriously, seriously fracked up.

While Hostel is grusome, it opens up a social commentary on how far people are willing to push for their own sick and twisted desires. I guess its one for the hedonists.
