Weekly New Releases – March 5, 2024

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “On the 4K front, we don’t have really any options outside of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, but honestly that film would have been a solid contender anyway. Othwerwise, I’m going with the Kino-Lorber release of The Lion In Winter.” Blaine says, “of those I’ve seen, The Great Escape is the most appealing. The Artist has been on my watch list a while but I’m waiting for the podcast to get there, and Pez Outlaw sounds interesting, since I didn’t know it was possible to become a millionaire by smuggling Pez dispensors.”

  1. I have no quarrel with the choices mentioned above, and I absolutely recommend watching The Pez Outlaw. The Purple Rose of Cairo isn’t bad, and I must put in a word for Over the Edge. You might not want to own it, but you should certainly see it.

    Review here.

  2. The Artist is excellent. The Lion in Winter is a masterclass in writing and acting. The movie is good, but if you have a chance to see it on stage, don’t miss it.
