Weekly New Releases – March 12, 2024

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “We are spoiled for choice this week for 4K UHD releases – from all these James Cameron films, to Dragonslayer and Event Horizon. I’m going to just roll the dice and go with Dragonslayer as my 4K UHD pick. For my anime pick, I’m going with Akiba Maid War, as someone who watched it as it was airing, and loved the old Yakuza films it was sending up. On the anime side, I’m going with Suzume, and my general pick is Ferrari.” Blaine says, “I’d go with one or more of Abyss, Aliens, and True Lies.”

One reply

  1. Wonka was delightfully fun. Recommended if you like light musicals.

The Abyss (for all the horror stories about its making) is one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies. This and T2 are the peak of James Cameron’s storytelling (yeah, I said it).

I’m a little surprised Wish is dropping on physical media before digital. I’m guessing it made so little that Disney is trying to recoup their losses before letting lots of people see it.
