Comments Anime series about a guy working at a really toxic job who gets the chance to finally do the things he’s always wanted to do — when a zombie apocalypse happens.

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I’ve generally enjoyed Netflix’s Castlevania series, so I’m looking forward to being able to have a physical copy of Castlevania: Nocturne. Otherwise, I like Otaku No Video, and if you haven’t had a chance to get it previously, it’s worth picking up – but I’ve got the Kickstarter version so I have no reason to re-buy it.” Blaine says, “nothing that I’ve actually seen jumps out at me.”

  1. Get Out / Us: Jordan Peele is one of the greatest current filmmakers.

Friday Night Lights the movie is worth seeing, but it’s not as good as the book.

    • I still need to see “Us”, but Get Out was brilliant (both endings are fantastic, too).

Arcane (at least the couple of episodes I caught) was good, and I know nothing about the lore.

Sleepy Hollow is probably one of my favorite Tim Burton films. I’m a little surprised Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has already dropped onto digital. The few people I know that saw it thought it was meh.

Inside Out 2 is excellent and is a worthy sequel to an excellent film.

      • To quote my “Final Thought” from my Us Review:

“You know what’s creepier than seeing a horror movie about doppelgängers? Leaving a horror movie about doppelgängers, and immediately passing smiling, shining identical twin girls.”

(They were a part of a line of kids who had the theatre next to Us for part of a kiddie birthday party, and it was clear from their reaction as everyone left Us that they had some idea of what was going on and were amused by the reactions of the people leaving the grown-up horror movie).

      • I find 5 weeks is now typical to go from theatre to digital, and in some cases (Black Adam and Shazam 2) it may be as short as 2 weeks. It’s really rough on the local exhibitors.

        • Yeah. I’m split on the speed. On one hand, I rarely go to the theaters, but when I do, I want to really soak in the experience. (Thank you, Alamo Drafthouse)
