There’s another round of DVD releases this week.
Things are starting to pick up this month. The week
of March 28 will be an expensive one. In fact, it’ll
probably be the most expensive week for me until
Warner’s first “Super Day” on June 20.
First, the genre releases:
- Anastasia
–
Family Fun Edition: A new release of the Fox
animated film. - Babylon
5: The
Legend of the Rangers: It doesn’t have the
strongest reputation,
but it is the only produced Babylon 5 TV product I
don’t own, so it’s
hard to say no. - Crest
of the
Stars – Anime Legends Complete Collection: This
seems to be part
of a packaging series by Bandia. - Ghostbusters:
The
original is now available without the sequel in its
new packaging. - Ghostbusters
2: The sequel is now available without the
original in its new
packaging. - I
Dream of
Jeannie – The Complete First Season (Black and
White): I love the
options they give the buyer. Check out the next
item! - I
Dream of
Jeannie – The Complete First Season (Color): Once
again, you can
choose the original version of the season, or the
colorized version to
stay consistent with later seasons. - Ice
Age –
Super Cool Edition: Just in time to promote the
sequel. - Saber
Marionette J – Anime Legends Complete Collection:
Another Bandai
“Complete Collection” release. - Stratos
4 –
Complete Collection: It’s a Bandai complete
collection, but
without the “Anime Legends” trade dress.
Now, the non-genre releases:
- American
Psycho: This looks like a rerelease of the unrated
edition. - Basic
Instinct
– Ultimate Edition – Unrated Director’s Cut: Just
in case you
really wanted to see those extra seconds. - Columbo
– The
Complete Fourth Season: For those of us who want
our mysteries to
contain an actual mystery. - Grosse
Pointe
– The Complete Series: To make a profit on TV, you
need 10 million
viewers. To make a profit on DVD, you need 1 million
buyers. So,
where’s my complete set of “John Woo’s Once A
Thief?” - Lost:
This
is the Dean Cain movie, not the TV series. - MacGyver
–
Season Five: I used to really enjoy this
show. - The
Man of the
Year: This didn’t get a North American
distributor, but it won
awards at film festivals for acting, cinematography,
best film, and
other varied categories. It could be worth checking
out. - Murder,
She
Wrote – The Complete Third Season: Just four more
to go until we
get the Straczynski contributions. - She
Spies –
The Complete First Season: It’s kind of like the
Charlie’s
Angels movies and show, only with funnier scripts
and more
attractive women. The first season was actually quite
a lot of fun. - Sleeper
Cell: Another well reviewed series I haven’t
watched yet. - VIP –
The
Complete First Season: This is supposed to have a
similar appeal
to She Spies, but as much as I enjoyed that,
I couldn’t sit
through a complete episode of this.
Oh, just one more thing. The pick of the week is
Columbo – The
Complete Fourth Season. Guest stars in this (six
episode) season
include Robert Conrad, Dick Van Dyke, Robert Vaughn,
Dean Stockwell,
George Hamilton, and Leslie Anne Warren.
Is it sad?…
Is it sad that the only thing onthis list I even remotely want is "She Spies", and I don’t really want it that much?
Re: Is it sad?…
You’re just a bad consumer ;-P
