Comments Blaine: Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Trey, Paul, Sean and I will discuss it in a soon-to-be-released-but-already-recorded episode of the Is It Jaws podcast, as part of the ongoing Hitchcock subseries.

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “My UHD pick of the week is City on Fire – it’s a good jumping on point for Ringo Lam’s style of crime thriller. Otherwise I don’t really have an anime pick this week.” Blaine says, “I’m picking the first season of the new Matlock series. It uses the original series as a springboard into the story, which is a lot deeper than the original show ever got. Each episode has a complete case, but there are ongoing plot threads in a long term story each episode, as well.”

  1. I think I’ve said this before but Barry Lyndon is a great movie that I’m never ever watching again.

What the heck is that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang/Willy Wonka/Wizard of Oz package?

The Deathstalker movies are really bad. I recommend them if you’re into that kind of bad.

The 1971 Get Carter is the good one.

Tempted by Monty Python and the Holy Grail but I already have several version of it and that movie does not benefit from upscaling.

    • I suspect that’s a “skipped generation” title. Some of the first Blu-Ray titles were ones that never made it to DVD, so there was some level of pent-up demand.

This could also be a case of “ET isn’t in 4K yet! We have to get there first and hope people mix up our products because that’s been our marketing strategy for this movie for the past 40 years!”

  2. What the heck is that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang/Willy Wonka/Wizard of Oz package?

The brightly-coloured kid movies from bygone eras collection?

I am less certain why anyone thought we needed an upgrade of Yongary, Monster from the Deep, Korea’s answer to Godzilla.
