Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “Perfect Blue is my UHD and overall pick of the week – admittedly the pickings are rather slim, but I’d still consider the movie a must-get in the highest resolution you can watch.” Blaine says, “if you don’t have Back to the Future yet, then you might as well grab it now. Nothing else really jumps out at me.”

  1. I remember when Back to the Future came out — even in the pre-internet-small-town-in-a-small-country there was a ton of hype for this thing. Very young teenage me was really looking forward to it playing the room in our community center that doubled as a movie theatre… and then it turned out we’d be on vacation in another country that week!

But as luck would have it, that was the in-flight movie. This is well before you had a personal screen at your seat — movies were projected on the bulkhead of every section.

Unless you were sitting next to the bulkhead, in which case they had a small TV mounted basically above you. I watched BTTF for the first time leaning back with my neck at a very weird angle.

But I did get to see it. This was at the time where if you missed a movie in the theatre, we assumed we’d never see it again…

  2. I didn’t realize there was a Tales from the Dark Side movie. I loved watching the show late at night. George Romero and Stephen King contributed to a couple of episodes.
