Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “Kino’s Journey is my anime pick of the week, if only because while we have all of the original Code Geass series, I think Kino’s Journey is a more cohesive whole. Otherwise, I’m going with of our UHD releases, Friday the 13th Part 2 – though it also might make for an interesting double feature with the 2003 film, as that film technically fits in the same place in the chronology as Part 2.” Blaine says, “the Bill and Ted movies and Mister Roberts are great comedies while Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a classic of a very different tone.”

  1. The Apartment is a classic and is well worth the watch.

I remember seeing The Golden Child in theatres when it came out. At the time I thought it was very good (it is peak Eddie Murphy). I do wonder if it would be considered culturally insensitive by today’s standards. It does co-star Charles Dance, though.

  2. I remember finding In and Out funny back in the day, I should rewatch it with older, slight wiser eyes and see how it holds up.

I’ve never seen this version of King Solomon’s Mines (1950). I might need to check it out. Allan Quartermain was the prototype for Indiana Jones.

I usually don’t mind remakes, but that Kidman/Broaderick version of the Stepford Wives makes me angry. They took a horror film with a hard-hitting message and turned it into a silly comedy. Feels like today would be a great time to drop a true remake with Trad Wives and MAGA abounding.
