The Muppet Show (2026) Discussion

Disney+ just dropped a one-off episode of the classic The Muppet Show. Sabrina Carpenter was the guest with Seth Rogan (also Executive Producer) and Maya Rudolf as cameos.

It was the classic format (not a The Office knock-off or the Muppets Now format). The old school vaudeville style with the old theater.

  1. Funny. Very funny. Same snark and humor as the original. Not trying to be anything edgy or new. Just the classic vaudeville sketch comedy format.

Honestly, in the days of YouTube, I could see this taking off. Heck, SNL generates more revenue on YouTube than it does airing on NBC. Disney, take note.

The new voices are a mixed bag. They match close, but not quite. They do, however, understand the characters and get that right. Given time, I think we’ll get used them.

    • I think this could totally be a family-friendly SNL given the right resources. And if they go bold, it could be a lot of fun. Not just “pop” stars like SNL, pull in old-school comedians and Broadway stars. Expose people to more culture.
