Weekly DVD Picks – June 13, 2006

Sorry this is so late.

First, the genre releases.

Then, the non-genre releases.

Finally, the pick of the week. I’ve got to go with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, an independent film that recreates a lot of the film noir style in full color while still maintaining a sense of humour. I saw it with people from work, and some of the more conservative individuals left the screening, but I really enjoyed it.

  1. Good, I didn’t know if I should buy anything
Hey, didn’t that special edition of The Princess Bride come out today?

Yes, both editions did, though I didn’t list them because I somehow convinced myself they were represses of the same ones.

Are they? Is there anything new in ’em? Usually the only reason I’ll ‘upgrade’ a DVD is if it has better picture and/or sound. According to my database, my current Princess Bride DVD is already widescreen and with 5.1 sound…

  2. Jimi Hendrix/Otis Redding
Getting just that set seems pretty foolish, as you can get it along with the actual movie and tons of other footage in the Criterion Monterey boxset.
