Eureka Discussion: ‘Pilot’

The newest series from Sci-Fi (that actually is Sci-Fi, surprise) debuted last night.

After a strange accident sidelines Eureka’s sheriff, U.S. Marshal Jack Carter takes over the investigation into the mysterious phenomenon that led to the death of a resident.

Carter learns about the secret purpose of the town while trying to re-establish a connection with his angry and bitter daughter, Zoe. He develops a friendly working relationship with government liaison Allison Blake and meets some of the more eccentric residents of Eureka.

  1. See? SEXUAL TENSION!!!
I think they were a bit heavy handed with the [blink]SEXUAL TENSION!!!![/blink]. I felt like every female character Our Hero ™ met brought on yet another moment of "wow, I’d do her" from him. I think they might need to tone that down some. Then again, the fact that all the women are hot might make that a realistic reaction.

Also, a little much with the "Laws of Physics are Breaking Down!!!" stuff towards the end. That phrase was uttered twice within 5 minutes. I think we kinda got the picture.

It’s got potential, as all shows do at this stage, but I remain cautious.

  2. Realistic!
Yup. just like real life, all problems can be fixed by reversing the tachyon beam.

Well, I dont know about you but I dont watch sci-fi shows for realism, if I wanted that I would go for a science textbook :)

Yea, its a bit rough around the edges, but it has potential if they can iron out the kinks and dont resort to "reversing the tachyon beam" too much!
