Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I’d prefer these Ken Burns releases on Blu-ray instead of DVD, because the visuals hold up in HD, but either way, I’d recommend picking up whichever one of this week’s Ken Burns releases catches your fancy. I particularly liked Horatio’s Drive.” Blaine says, “I haven’t seen many of these specific Ken Burns films, but his track record is exceptional, so I’d also say you can take your pick from his work.”
I really need to binge more Ken Burns. They’re so good. I don’t much care for Jazz, but his series on the genre was a glimpse into a history I had never read about.
Platoon has been on my to-watch list since I was a teen. My dad was a Vietnam vet and his unit was adjacent to the one depicted in that film, so he avoided watching it. Now that he’s passed and I’ve seen his service record, I can see why he avoided the movie.
Clue is, hands down, one of the funniest films ever. Supposedly someone made a stage version of it and I will get my hands on the script.
There’s no “supposedly” about the stage version of Clue. My Babylon 5 podcasting partner has been cast in his local production coming this fall.
Damn, I’m jealous. That looks like so much fun.
