  1. Very good mix of TOS and TNG (classic “Badmiral”). Tight drama with excellent stakes. Both A & B plot moved nicely. The symmetry of the plots was well-done.

As a dad whose gotten f-ed over at work numerous times, I felt for George, even though he’s never on screen. Jim & Sam have wonderful chemistry. The more I learn about Sam, the sadder I get, knowing he’s not going to make it much longer. I hope Uncle Jim dropped in on the kids from time to time.

Cordrazine callback (from The City on the Edge of Forever) was sharp. M’Benga taking the fall kind of pissed me off, but they’re laying the groundwork for him leaving so McCoy can join the crew. Kirk accepted the noble sacrifice, but Christine was having none of it. I liked that.’

Uhura was, indeed, a badass. Loved how she went mama-bear on the Andorians. Hemmer would have been proud. I also like Pike’s comment that echoed Picard’s, “You can make all the right moves and still lose”. When she was introduced, I assumed that A’Sha was either going to be killed by season’s end (like Gamble) or was a Romulan spy. Pleased to see I was wrong.

Uhura got her first rank stripe! Woohoo!

      • That’s true. But we’re too early for that reveal. Who knows. We’ve only got 2 episodes left this season. I’m guessing it ends with M’Benga’s court martial and him leaving (too bad, he’s a great character). I’m guessing all 6 episodes of Season five will be getting us into place for TOS (McCoy, Sulu, and maybe Chekov coming aboard with Pike getting promoted, Kirk taking command and the rest getting reassigned)

        • I don’t think M’Benga can face a full court martial, just a demotion, since he was in three episodes of TOS. I agree that it sounds like season 5 will be their “soft pitch” for the Enterprise Year One show they want to make. I’m also expecting Una to be promoted off the ship and take some bridge crew with her.

I’m also wondering if they’ll have the guts to committing to La’an’s arc to the degree that season five has a big bad, and La’an is it.
