So, this one feels like they were leaning into the 60th anniversary. I need to rewatch, but the various alien background characters (M’Ress!) made for some fun Easter Eggs. Also, playing on the title, Yesterday’s Enterprise.
Admiral Pike seems like a mistake. Commodore is usually a rank lower than Admiral and we know that’s Pike’s final rank. FWIW, I looked, the US Navy no longer has the rank of Commodore, it’s now Rear Admiral (Lower Half). Maybe in Starfleet they use the terms interchangeably.
Did we just witness the birth of The Prophets? I know they’ve been around for centuries for the Bajorans, but remember, they don’t exist in linear time, so it can go all Timey-Wimey/Jeremy Bearamy.
All in all, a good character-specific episode. It retroactively makes that weird Uhura/Scotty thing in Star Trek V make slightly more sense.
