Weekly Comics Discussion – October 18, 2006

As always, the complete list can be found here.

DC Comics

  • 52 Week #24
  • Authority #1
  • Birds of Prey #99 – With an issue number like that, I’d suspect it’s building to something big next week.
  • Flash: The Fastest Man Alive #5
  • Omega Men #1
  • Sandman #1 Special Edition – a $0.50 issue
  • Showcase Presents Challengers of the Unknown Vol. 1
  • Wildcats #1

Marvel Comics

  • Amazing Spider-Girl #1
  • Cable Deadpool – It seems I’m not the only one who tried this for Civil War and decided to stick around. In the issue of Previews that comes out next week, there will be listings for reprints of the first four trade paperbacks. (I’ve been having trouble tracking down the first two. I’ve got a winning bid for the issues on eBay that was placed the day before this announcement was made. Grr.)
  • Civil War X-Men #4 of 4 – expect a review of the series by the end of the weekend.
  • Daily Bugle – Marvel has launched the Daily Bugle as a regular thing with very little fanfare. Retailers must order in lots of 50, so don’t be surprised if smaller shops don’t carry them.
  • Essential Marvel Horror Vol. 1 – I’m passing on this one, but will try to catch up on older Essential reviews. (Expect a review of Essential Daredevil Vol. 3 later today or early tomorrow.)
  • Ms. Marvel #8 – wraps up another Civil War crossover. This will also get a review this weekend.
  • Ultimate Fantastic Four #35
  • Wolverine #47 – The second last issue in the Civil War crossover.

For those interested, the latest 52 review will be up a bit late this week. After this, I may start reviewing eight-week rather than four-week arcs.
