We usually have this out sooner in the year, but here’s a list of the genre (or close to) releases during the “hot” season of Hollywood.

All the films are either sequels or adaptations of TV shows. And who says Hollywood is creatively bankrupt?

May
4th – Spider-Man 3 – Sandman, Green Goblin, and Venom: Oh my!
11th – 28 Weeks Later – Sequel to the low-budget hit 28 Days Later
18th – Shrek the Third – Does the big green guy have enough left for a third movie?
25th – Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End – Critics blasted the 2nd film, but that didn’t stop the money from coming in.

June
15th – Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer – Galactus as a cloud? Hmmmmm.
22nd – Evan Almighty – Steve Carrell takes over the lead in this follow-up to Bruce Almighty
29th – Live Free or Die Hard – OK, so it’s not exactly genre, but you know it’ll be full of special effects

July

4th – Transformers – Could be so cool or so bad. Or a little of both.
13th – Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – Sure to be a major hit. The final book comes out eight days later.
27th – The Simpsons Movie – Does the series have enough juice left after all these years to carry a movie?
