2008 Hugo Nominees

Galactica, Doctor Who, a number of writers you’ve read (including Charles Stross), but no novels we’ve reviewed as yet, are up for the 2008 Hugos, to be awarded at WorldCon in Denver this summer.

Cloverfield isn’t mentioned– but Heroes‘ entire first season could win best dramatic presentation, long form.

Anyone else here going to WorldCon this summer?

I am not surprised Cloverfield wasn’t mentioned, since it was complete trash.

As for Galactica. With its ridiculously long hiatus, should it be a contender? Maybe they should have punished the people in charge for such a dumb move by not mentioning them either, even though its the best thing on television by far… when it is showing.

Am I just becoming a bitter old fart before my time?

The voting members– writers and fans– determine what makes the list and what wins. Most don’t nominate.

      /me whistles.

      I’ll certainly be voting.

Well, it’s been known to happen.

The writers and cast deserve the Hugo – and they had nothing to do with the hiatus. The execs at NBC won’t give a crap, so you won’t really be punishing them.
