“Syndicate” gettting resurrected?

I hope to ($Supreme Being) that this isn’t an April Fools joke – Shacknews.com is reporting that EA is resurrecting Peter Molyneux, cyberpunk strategy game series Syndicate. According to the article, the game has been designed to Starbreeze studios, who developed the Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and The Darkness games.

This story went up late yesterday so I’m hoping that this isn’t a April Fools news story. I never played the previous games in the series, but I’d heard excellent things about them. Hopefully, Starbreeze will be able to resurrect the franchise in a way that does it justice.

Starbreeze, being a traditionally FPS devhouse, does not bode well to me.

I have an unreasonable pesimissm when it comes to remakes of games I thoroughly enjoyed from my youth. Fallout 3 was an example of abusing an IP for selfish gains. Hopefully they treat Syndicate right.

I loved Syndicate on the Amiga way back when.. was lots of fun.
