Live-Action Dragonball Z

Korei writes, FOX has apparently gained the rights to a live-action movie of the popular anime/manga series “Dragonball Z”. The info can be found at DBZ’s official site, http://www.dragonballz.com. And, Dragonball’s creator, Akira Toriyama, made this short statement about the live-action DBZ movie(from http://www.dragonballz.com/): “Recent movies have surprised us by entering such territory that used to belong only to comics with wonderful technology and wisdom. As a big movie fan, I am truly looking forward to the movie version of Dragonball. I hope you will entertain millions and millions of people with the brand new Dragonball of a totally new dimension that surpasses my imagination,” and there are rumors of the movie coming out around 2003 or 2004. You can find more information at http://www.filmforce.ign.com/. That’s all I know.

Spider-Man DVD November 1

Yes, it’s old news, but since most DVD releases aren’t on Fridays, it’s probably worth a reminder. There are three editions of the DVD, all of which have the same movie. The two disk sets both have the same bonus disk; one set has the movie in widescreen, while the other set has the movie in its butchered version. The third release is a limited edition box set that includes the two disks in the normal widescreen set, a copy of Stan Lee’s Monsters, Mutants and Marvels (in which Kevin Smith interviews Stan Lee), and a few other extras, like a reprint of Amazing Fantasy 15, a lithograph, and a film cell.

“The Core” Delayed till Q1 2003

Paramount is delaying the release of the Sci-Fi action flick, The Core until the first quarter of 2003. They site post-production issues as well as the fact that fourth quarter of this year is already overloaded with genre material (not that I see this as a bad thing). Paramount already has Star Trek Nemesis in a tough spot with Two Towers and Harry Potter fighting for the same bucks.

Return of Tron

codejnki writes, Over at the www.tron20.net website are some pretty cool looking extras, including an interactive screen saver app. There are clues on the website to unlock features of the screen saver, and once you unlock the screen saver you can unlock more features on the website. I find it cool that they’ve some how managed to capture the essence of the original movie which I’m able to point to direcly as the reason I became a programmer in the first place. Cheers. The site seems to require that you have a PC or Mac with Shockwave Flash to use all of the features. That leaves me out, but I that’s no reason not to let you folk know about it.
