Welcome to “Spooky Season”! As the Bureau begins out October Reviews, our shows do not take any time off, so you’ll have it squeeze those movies in where you can. Evil gets into your brain this week. Chapelwaite is grieving. Per a good suggestion, Y: The Last Man joins the BBTT, but the title informing me that our favorite multi-genre muscian had passed away distracted me from the summary of political intrigue. The Good Doctor plans for a wedding as the hospital staff shakes up. Stargirl takes a regret-filled trip to the past, while Supergirl searches for magical totems as Lena gets witchy. What If will conitue last week’s episode, but gives us not advanced notice. Doom Patrol assists Madame Rouge. The Queen speaks on See. In Foundation, the Empire argues with himself. American Horror Story, Titans, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and the Boys speciall all are also on the table, but didn’t give us any descriptions, so they don’t get mentioned.

In college, Stephen King wrote possibly the best Lovecraft story not written by Lovecraft, a twisted pastiche with a side of Poe. “Jerusalem’s Lot” would finally be published in his first story collection, Night Shift. Before that happened, he reused the town’s name in the novel Salem’s Lot (a sort of Dracula meets Peyton Place) and the follow-up short story, “One for the Road.” Fans have spent a good deal of time trying to reconcile the largely irreconcilable histories of the early story with the novel and its coda.
This year saw “Jerusalem’s Lot” expanded and adapted into the series, Chapelwaite. The first five of ten episodes have aired, with suspicious townsfolk, creeping madness, the worm that doth corrupt—and, one suspects, an eye towards a possible future season that will bring us to modern-day ‘Salem’s Lot.
The year rolls past the equinox into the last quarter, and we have a fall television season actually give us a premier with The Good Doctor starting its fifth season as our stars get married. Over on Evil, the team does their taxes. Chapelwaite’s children learns disappointment. Stargirl protects Solomon Grundy. Supergirl chases a totem. What If? has a new episode, though it is typically non-descript at this point. Riverdale welcomes us to Alice Cooper’s musical pleasant dream. American Horror Story takes some college students on a camping trip. Doom Patrol faces the undead. Titans go boating. Star Trek’s Lower Decks make an appearance as well. On See, we visit a peace summit. Foundation prepares us for Ascension.

SurrealEstate ends its first season with two connected episodes that solve some mysteries while opening up a portal to new directions for season two.
The most significant cliffhanger? We do not yet know if the show will have a second season.
Between last year’s COVID affected production and release schedules and the move to streaming from broadcast seasons, I am not sure that fall premiers and summer re-runs are still a thing. A John Diggle Cameo joins us for Supergirl’s twelfth episode focuses on a socially just Guardian, but Stargirl is back at episode seven, giving fallout from Yolanda’s remorse. The stream side was staggared as well as Titan’s take their ninth episode with some soul, but we are just getting the first three episodes of Doom Patrol’s third season. Over on Evil, someone is afraid of cracking some eggs. Chapelwaite gets committed. What If still doesn’t give us advanced knowledge of which changes we will get to see, but there’s a Multiversal Avengers theory out there, as well as a Thor-centric episode still in the works. Riverdale sends Jughead and Betty season for missing friends. American Horror Story offs the Gardners. On See, the family has a royal dinner party.

SurrealEstate continues a generally strong streak with two closely-connected episodes which share a writer and a director.
The first one uses a premise with which contemporary viewers will be very familiar.
Does the same old, same old make you a Depressed Consumer of television? Well, I have a devil of a great announcement, as both Robot Chicken and Lucifer return to give you something different to watch, and The Boys has another “News” special. Also, if the infernal puns about Lucifer episodes bother you, this is the final season so those should be going away too! Evil also gives us an cranial anatomy lesson, and American Horror Story examines their town’s history. If you aren’t into the darkness, you can enjoy some animation on Star Trek: Lower Decks, Miraculous, My Hero Acadamia, and What If, which appears to be bringing the first half of the show together. Staying with the comics, The Legends end their season basedon a wacky plan from the teams alternative pharmacist, Stargirl hits some stormy weather, Supergirl fights urban renewal, and the Titans explore democracy. In Riverdale, everyone’s favorite cat themed musicians return. In See find true north. SurrealEstate has a wedding.
