Apple will introduce the iPad 3 in March, new images of our galaxy confirm the presence of a microwave fog around the core (protecting Star Trek’s God Planet?), astronauts aboard the international space station get some great video of the northern lights, the Canadian government uses child porn as an excuse to threaten ordinary citizens’ online security,1 and a very funny look back at the death of Superman, with terrific acting and special celebrity guests:

1. Canadian citizens concerned about the kind of threat represented by the proposed legislation should check out this online petition. Of course critics of the legislation don’t want child porn; we’re concerned the current government is using that threat the way certain other governments have been using terrorism; a legitimate problem becomes the excuse for governments to strip away hard-won rights.
