Comments Blaine: WARNING: This is still incomplete. Only half filmed, written by Douglas Adams and starring Tom Baker, it has never been seen, although there are other versions available in radio and print. This takes the existing footage and tries to cobble it together somehow, and I don’t know how effectively that will work.

Finally, the picks of the week. Blaine says, “Shada and the new Red Dwarf X are both very interesting, but I have seen neither.” Alex says, “I strongly recommend everyone check out Bodacious Space Pirates – and if you’re attending WorldCon 2013 at LoneStarCon 3, I’d recommend nominating it for a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation Short Form for, really, whatever episodes you consider to be your favorite (or even Long Form for the whole series). Otherwise, you should check out Shada.”

  1. I’ve seen some of Red Dwarf X, and I am so far very happy with it. Surprisingly so, in fact.

Takes a while to get used to the fact that everyone’s 25 years older (and somehow the android seems to have gained weight) but it’s still pretty funny.

  2. Going to watch Game Change, if only out of sheer morbid curiosity. Having met (and liked) John McCain in the early 90’s, I found his 2008 campaign frightening with his selection of a running mate to be the scariest thing of all.

  3. I only recently acquired Buck Rogers Season 1. This show had a super nostalgia value. Did they make more than the 2 seasons? With networks looking for remake material what would a BR show be like after getting the BSG treatment?

    • It was just the two seasons. Buck Rogers is a concept with legs. I’ve even listened to a fair number of the old radio serials, though those are hard to follow because so many are lost.
