Comments Blaine: I distinctly remember Siskel and Ebert saying that Jack Nicholson shouldn’t have been given an Oscar nomination for As Good As It Gets because he was just playing the same character he always played in that movie, but he gave a completely atypical Oscar worthy performance in this movie that same year. I need to check it out one of these days.

Finally, the picks of the week. Blaine says, “nothing I see here jumps out at me.” Alex will add his pick in the comments.

  1. The closest I have to a recommendation this week is picking up the first part of the second City Hunter series – if you enjoyed the first season and want more. Otherwise most of the anime series this week are sequels or (in the case of the Lupin III movie) direct sequels to episodes that are something of a mixed bag.

  2. I see plenty of things I have watched, and would watch again, but nothing that I expect anyone to be on the fence about. If you like Kevin Smith, you’ve seen his offerings. If you like Marvel, you’ve seen Venom.

I did see Dracula 2000 back in 2000 (ish,) and I remember it being not being up to any standards I had at the time, but not being that upset at having watched it. It had a mildly interesting concept in it.
