  1. I wonder if its true
I’ve seen this reported everywhere… except on the World of Warcraft forums, where you’d expect them to bitch the most…

I must admit that the name “Hakkar” gave me pause. Still, several media outlets report that it has only affected some servers, and there’s discussion at it at the WorldofWar site and forums, so I’m going to say it seems legit, unless we hear otherwise.

Well, there is a guy called Hakkar – so that part is real enough :)

Well I can confirm this is true (given that my guild started it on our server). *cough*

I wasn’t there, but it would seem that it took quite some doing to get corrupted blood into Ironforge. The debuff lasts 3 seconds, ticks twice for ~250-~350 damage, and passes on to the closest friendly target each tick. It can stack, but a level 60 has 3000-6000 hp so it takes a while to kill them. Low levels can have much less (a level 1 has around 100 hp).

There were hundreds of bodies everywhere, and people were shouting that it was the end of the world and we were being punished by god etc. We were just cracking up on vent.

Anything from ytmnd is loud and may be considered cruelly insensitive.

  2. not a gamer
but I think this sort of thing would make a lot of sense if done right. Back in my MUDD days, one of my biggest problems was the lack of natural idiot-killers. Reality is, there are some people that are too stupid to live. Introducing penalties for stupidy is realistic and adds a sense of danger that should be present at almost all times.

If you drink the water over here, you get sick. If you sleep next to a guy the next night… he gets sick from the water. If you screw a ho, your chances of getting sick go up etc… wiping out everyone under a certain level is a bit much. It should be able to kill people equally just like a real disease would. Heck, a 12 year old has as much chance of surviving cancer as a 30 yr old…
