This is really growing on me
Of course, when Amy Acker showed up I yelled “Fred!” at the top of my lungs, and as an added bonus she did a bathtub scene, so there are probably reasons that I continue liking this show that have nothing to do with the main characters or writing.

That being said, I really like the main characters and the writing (go figure). The end of this episode was a little weak, but like the younger brother said “We can’t save everybody” and I think I prefer that to everything returning to status quo when the episode is over. I’m just hoping that they’re not afraid to mess with the main characters – it was understandable during the pilot, but if these two can continue doing what they’re doing without any personal repercussions, I’d be hard-pressed to continue suspending my disbelief.

      Same.

However, I get the feeling that the brother who stayed with dad to hunt monsters knows more about the whereabouts of their father than he tells his brother. Specifically, I figure the dad is dead, brother-1 saw him die and decided he needed brother-2’s help to avenge dad/keep hunting what needs killing.

I could see that. I could also see:

          1. Their Dad died and they were actually raised by the thing that killed their mother.
          2. The thing that killed their mother is actually Sam, the younger brother (note that both deaths happened in his bedroom at the time) and he just doesn’t know it – but Dad does and is trying to find a cure.
          3. Dean, the older brother is actually the Evil Thing (TM) and is just stringing Sam along
          4. Dad actually bought it, possibly at the hands of the Ghost Woman in the first episode, and this was possibly seen by Dean (but I doubt it) and they’re simply following along in his footsteps.

Like Sam said, the trail is getting pretty cold. Hopefully next week they’ll get some sort of clue.

Oh, and Vanyel? I agree with your complaint about Wendigo, but you should really give it another chance. At least watch this week for Amy Acker’s big reveal scene.

    Not for me…
I pulled this one from my Tivo after the Wendigo (which I finally got around to watching a couple nights ago). If these guys are idiots enough to head out on a likely multi-day hunting expedition with nothing more than a bag of M&M product placements, the Wendigo would have had them for dinner before they even knew he was there. Not to mention how he’s too fast to see, until they get into his lair.

I could probably overlook some of this for a while, but there’s just too much on that’s better, and I’ve got better things to do…
