TOS and TNG on G4?

Apparently that’s what the Comcast-owned tech channel is trying to do. This is part of a larger rebranding effort on G4’s part to snag the male geek audience. No word on if this means Sci-Fi will lose TOS and Spike will lose TNG. More from Sci-Fi Wire.

G4 took a perfectly good network (the late great TechTV) and basically ran it into the ground. I don’t care what they program or what they call it, it’s gonna take a lot for me to forgive them for all the hell they rained down upon good shows like “The Screen Savers”.

Let’s run through some of the G4 lineup and see what happens…

    • “Cheat!” is a show where they read off cheat codes. I thought everyone just got those from the Internet…
    • “Video Game Vixens.” I think the name says it all, folks.
    • “Fastlane.” Wasn’t that the show that aired after Firefly for a while? And had even worse ratings?
    • “The Man Show.” And this has WHAT to do with video games again?

“Attack Of The Show” has its moments, and C4H is probably tolerable now that Leo’s back on, but otherwise this whole network is just wasting space on my $40/month TV portion of the cable bill.

G4 is the network with X Play AKA Extended Play. I’m pretty sure there is nothing else on the channel. It just turns blank when X Play isn’t on. At least, I’m pretty sure about that.

Attack of the Show is decent, and they also have Call for Help, which I just started TiVoing. Basically, all the Tech TV shows are good, and I skip the rest.

    • I think you’re thinking about Joe Millionare. Now, I didn’t watch Fastlane, and frankly bad ratings do not necessarily mean that a show sucks, however it doesn’t mean that the show is good either.

Maybe, someday soon, we’ll have a la carte cable (drool…). Then I can concentrate on Sci-Fi, Cartoon Network, and Comedy Central, and stop subsidizing all this other bullshit.
