Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I’m biased where the Here Comes a New Challenger documentary is concerned, but either way, I think it’s worth picking up. Otherwise, I’m going with the Mexico Trilogy – with 100 Girlfriends Who Really^4 Like You as my anime pick (if you didn’t pick up part 1 of Apothecary Diaries) – it’s farsical in a way that I think makes the premise work.” Blaine says, “I’m going with Star Trek: Lower Decks. While seasons 1-2 were uneven in my opinion, it became something pretty great after that.”

  1. Moana 2 was…a movie. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t grab me like the first movie. My wife, much more the musician, said the music was mediocre and I agree. None of the tunes were memorable like the first movie (How Far I’ll Go, You’re Welcome, Shiny, etc.). This was a similar complaint we had with Wish. Now, the movie is gorgeous. The water animation is truly stunning. The voice cast is doing great work (Johnson is phoning it in, however). I respect Disney for casting race-appropriate voice actors for the roles and not stunt casting every role (looking at you Illumination).

If you spotted the plot hole in the finale, stick around for the mid-credits scene. It answers that and sets up #3.

I’m also putting Lower Decks on my wish list. Everything about that series was delightful. I’m working through the comics which are just as good.
