New Buffy, new Avengers: The Initiative, a new volume of Fantastic Four Visionaries: John Byrne, launch of JMS’ Twelve reviving Marvel’s Golden Age heroes, new Ultimates, a new chapter in Messiah Complex (specifically Uncanny X-Men 493), and What If: X-Men, The Rise and Fall of the Shi’Ar Empire, and you don’t know what to do this week? In my opinion, Dan Slott’s Avengers: The Initiative is better than either New Avengers or Mighty Avengers, so I really recommend checking it out. (Caveat: This annual is the first cowritten by Christos Gage, who will co-write from now on to give Slott more time to work on Amazing Spider-Man. I haven’t picked up this week’s order yet, so I don’t know how it holds up. This week’s reviews will be of World War Hulk: Aftersmash and the World War Hulk event as a whole.)
