  1. This week’s rundown
I doubt I’ll have time for full blown reviews of everything I picked up, so here are some general comments on everything I bought this week:

    DC Comics

GREEN LANTERN #25 – Wow, was this good. Do you want pages and pages of great action that sets up (one of?) DC’s summer 2009 event(s)? Pick this up.
GREEN LANTERN CORPS #19 – Not as good as GL#25, but still good. Read after GL #25, and before "Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Ion"
TALES OF THE SINESTRO CORPS ION #1 – Fairly average, establishing Kyle’s new status quo.

    Dynamite Entertainment Comics

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA ORIGINS #1 – The origin of Baltar is starting. Like the other BSG comic titles, it’s a lot of "meh."

    Marvel Comics

FANTASTIC FOUR #552 – McDuffie’s run is about to close. This isn’t one of his better issues.
GHOST RIDER #18 – Continues the mediocre delivery of the series to date, but reveals one hell of an idea that cleans up what I’ve always felt was a fundamental flaw in the character. I’m suddenly looking forward to reading the character with issue 20’s writer change.
NEW AVENGERS #37 – There’s something about Yu’s art I just can’t warm up to. Most describe it as "gritty," but for me, it comes across more as "dirty" than "gritty." We’re still building to Secret Invasion, but this issue will be interesting mainly to fans of The Hood.
NEW WARRIORS #6 – Decent, but not spectacular. I may stop collecting if the next arc is similarly lackluster.
NOVA #9 – Another series that seems to have great ideas with weak implementation. In this case, it’s the comic relief that undermines the impact of the plot.
ULTIMATE IRON MAN II #1 (OF 4) – This picks up right where the previous series left off, and it needed to. The first one didn’t end, it stopped. After reading the last panel, I literally tried to seperate the page, thinking there just had to be more to the story and my copy had two pages stuck together. That’s not the case, though. This starts where issue 6 in the first series should have started a couple of years ago. If you picked up the first series, it’s worth it to get the rest of the story. If you didn’t, hold off until we know if this will finish the job or just end like the first did.
X-MEN DIE BY THE SWORD #5 (OF 5) – Mediocre. If you’re following Exiles or Excalibur, you’ll need to read it. Otherwise, skip it.

    • This week’s rundown: A DC Note
Booster Gold #5: a time-travel story revisits 1988’s Batman: The Killing Joke and also suggests that Ted Kord may soon return from the dead.

Does anyone other than the Waynes stay dead in the DCU?
