J. Michael Straczynski will be writing Hollywood’s latest re-envisioning of an SF classic. Reports online make it unclear if this will be a remake or a kind of sequel.
Most importantly, will they use the original Robbie?

JMS eh?
Hmm, if it’s written by JMS, it might actually be worth seeing, sequel or remake.
Re: JMS eh?
Agreed. In addition, the film has a premise less rooted in its original era than The Day the Earth Stood Still, so it has greater potential as a remake. I personally wish Hollywood would focus on good adaptations of existing SF and entirely original scripts, but this one might actually work.
Of course, some might argue Star Trek was the remake/sequel of Forbidden Planet.
Re: JMS eh?
Others would argue that Forbidden Planet itself was a remake of Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
