I mean, I must be getting old or something, but the appeal of being first in line seems to have lost it’s appeal, like eating an entire carton of Ben & Jerry’s in one sitting, or wolfing down a 20-Chunk McNuggets in 5 minutes (4 minutes is my record – you don’t want to know – that’s a nugget every 12 seconds).

I’ll see Spider-Man, probably more than once, but not opening night. While it won’t be as bad as opening night for Episode II, the teeny-boppers are likely to be out in force with their pagers and cell phones going off throughout the show and laughing at the sad parts, like they did at Lord of the Rings.

Sigh. Kids today. Jeez, I’m only 29 myself. What the smeg happened?

My guess would be that your friends
grew up. The main reason I see movies as early as
possible is that I have friends who always see them
opening night, and they have no qualms about
discussing the ending of the movies in the presence
of people who haven’t seen it yet. If your friends
have matured enough to honour a wish to stay
spoiler-free, then the need to see it right away is
      greatly diminished.

Plus, I find writing for this site is a good excuse
for seeing all the movies I want to see on opening
night. We’ve got to have those morning-after reviews,
      after all. :)

True dat. Well, maybe not so much grew up as started working as a film reviewer for the AZ state press, which gets him in early . . .

        Oh, friends plural? Er . . . Um . . . yeah, just the one. :)

And lower admission prices. (I’m going with people who can’t go earlier than 9pm, so it’s an evening show for me.)
