This looks like a pretty
good week. DC is offering Superman: True
Brit, a graphic novel outlined by John Cleese
and written by one of his assistants. Marvel is
offering Sentinel Vol. 2: No Hero,
Secret War #3 (finally), Ultimate
Nightmare #3, Ultimate X-Men #52, and
X-Men: The End Book One #4. I’ll try to get
True Brit reviewed in the next day or two,
and get Supreme Power #7-12 reviewed before
the TPB hits shelves next week.

Fox DVD Sale in America
Some time ago, we told you about a Fox TV DVD sale
that hit Canadian retailers, with prices that were
over 50% off. Now, Amazon.com is reflecting similar
prices for the first seasons of 24,
Futurama
(which I picked up in the Canadian sale and will
review soonish), Roswell,
Angel,
The
Simpsons, Buffy
the Vampire Slayer, King
of the Hill, and MASH.
(The Canadian sale included Dark Angel,
which I’ll eventually review, Firefly, and
pretty much every other first season Fox show. The
Amazon.com sale doesn’t seem to be doing this.) At
any rate, they have a quantity cap on them, but for
$14.99, it’s hard to say no to those you don’t
already own. If I had any Christmas shopping left to
do, this would finish it. (Well, fine, I still have
my father left to buy for, but the rest is done.)
Halloween Review– The Ring
Koji Suzuki’s 1989 novel started a phenomenon, which includes two Japanese adaptations and sequels, a Korean remake, graphic novels, a musical— and Hollywood’s The Ring.
The first half of this film is nearly identical to Ringu, transplanted to America. The second half diverges in significant ways.
The X-Files Review – Season Seven
Seven down, two to go. I will eventually manage to
review every season of this series as a whole, but at
least now we’re caught up to the point where
individual episode reviews began. (The reviews of
the first half of the season predates the 42 point
system, too.)
Enterprise Review: “Storm Front, Part I”
I’m baaaack. If you thought the other stuff being reviewed during October were scary, just you wait…

Halloween Review– Ringu
Happy Thanksgiving!
Yes, it’s Canadian Thanksgiving Day, time to give thanks and enjoy such seasonal treats as dressed poultry, pumpkin pie, fall leaves, and Japanese horror movies. Koji Suzuki’s 1989 novel started a phenomenon, which includes a tv adaptation, a Japanese movie, sequels, a Korean remake, Hollywood’s The Ring (reviewed tomorrow), graphic novels, and a musical. The most influential adaptation is this 1998 film, from Japan.
