It’s a teaser, so we don’t get any dialogue. Visually, it’s stunning. On one hand, DC has teased us and screwed up the execution. On the other, James Gunn has earned himself a little street cred with Guardians.
I shall remain cautiously optimistic.
Yeah, DC’s non-Bat-track record remains grounds for caution. I’m also not sold on them including Supergirl (though they have a solid actress in the role) and at least three b-list heroes in the film.
But…. Corenswet looks able to handle both sides of Kent/Superman, Lex appears to be the evil tech exec that we need him to be, and it has Krypto, doggonit!
And, yeah, James Gunn.
We shall see, but I also come down on the side of “cautiously optimistic.”
I am a worried it’s overcrowded. It’s a Superman movie, but they’re clearly using it to launch the Justice League. The cast is solid but it’ll really come down to the writing.
The DCU gets rebooted more often than a computer with a faulty driver.
Maybe this version will stick for a few years.
Maybe. I think WB looks at the MCU and says, “We want Avengers-level money”. But they don’t understand that to have Avengers money you have to have smaller successes (Iron Man, Captain America, Thor) before you can earn the “big bucks”.
It’s Cargo Cult for comic book movies.

Getting cynical in my old age.
