One of the reasons I love Star Trek is that it can work both in darkness and in light. This episode was unrepentant in its silliness. The franchise turns 60 next year and it’s just fine to have fun. Were there plot holes? Yes. Did the serum make sense? No. But that’s OK, we’re diving into something here and having a good time with it. And they nailed a bit of lore with La’an abhorrent change.
Kudos to the guest cast (Kane, Oswalt, and Scrofano) for having a blast with their roles. The LSD line just killed me. I want Oswalt to guest star again. That was awesome.
Do not skip the intro (it’s slightly different) nor the post-credit scene.
I am pretty sure that last few seconds is Oswalt turning and walking away so he doesn’t break character, and Peck holding it as long as he can and then losing it.
Yeah, the last few seconds are definitely Peck, not Spock.
As someone who has done stage acting and improv, you are 100% correct.
