Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 12 January 2020

Are you recovered from your holidays?  Did you spend the last couple of weeks agonizing about the fate of the CW’s shows?  Why did we have to wait so long to find out if everything exists or not?  Good news, your Delay Ceases!  Arrow brings back the show before wrapping up on Legends.  We also have some medical missives with Midwives, Good Doctor, and of course, Doctor Who1.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 5 January 2020

You did see the first episode of Doctor Who, right?  The Doctor has saved us, and brought a Midwife back so we have something to watch.  Star Trek: Discovery also gives us a short trek, but this is another light week for you to catch up before that Dastardly Crisis comes for us next week.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 29 December 2019

As the year runs out of steam, so do the studios.  There is only one hope we have for new genre television, and she is all the hope you need:  The Doctor.  Doctor Who returns with a two-parter, with part one on New Year’s Day, and part two on the following Sunday.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 22 December 2019

The holidays mean everything slows down, including the shows to watch.  His Dark Materials and The Mandalorian are the only regular shows this week, but Lost in Space‘s second season drops, and if you’re a fan of Holiday Specials, Call The Midwife and Mrs. Brown’s Boys has you covered.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 15 December 2019

Today is my 12th wedding anniversary, and all of the shows, even the ones not wiped out by a Crisis, have decided to celebrate and take the week off.  Except Watchmen, who seem to be falling into Crisis after all.  His Dark Materials gets extra dark, with children in fights to the death.  The Mandalorian doesn’t give us anything to go on, but each episode has been better than a good chunk of the movies, so it doesn’t really have to.  Looking ahead, if you are planning for the next week, while you are on a stake-out for the fat man who is breaking and entering, you’ve got two more episodes of these shows an a season of Lost in Space.  I will be using the time to catch up on Runaways from last week, first.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 8 December 2019

While over in the Arrowverse a Crisis hits this week, Marvel answers by bringing the Runaways back and dropping season three for us.  Meanwhile, in His Dark Materials, we get a better look at the Daemons, the Watchmen get some alcohol in Manhattan, Black Lightning, while not directly dealing with Crisis, worries about Jennifer, and Castle Rock and Blacklist end their seasons.  In Riverdale, Veronica fights with her her dad, and The Mandalorian takes on a crew.  If you are still looking upwards, Star Trek: Discovery offers us a Short Trip.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 1 December 2019

Hope you’ve got a lot of free time to catch up this week!  The DC shows are at their last episodes before Crisis, which gives us a mid-season finale feel to Flash and Arrow.  Supergirl and Batwoman will also be taking part, and Legends will pop in but their shows haven’t been leaning as heavily into it.  Black Lightening is also rumors to show up, but he’s still busy trying to free his city from governmental occupation on his show.  Meanwhile on HBO, the Watchmen discusses the events of the original comic, but otherwise has nothing to do with the rest of the DC properties.  His Dark Materials borrows a name from a vampire movie, but shows no signs of featuring bloodsuckers.  The Good Doctor visits his estranged, dying father.  Riverdale producers still believe video tapes are a thing.  The Mandalorian works with a rookie.  The Blacklist stops people from retiring.  In you wanted something nostalgic and lighter, Fuller House’s latest season drops, also.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 24 November 2019

I have managed to get nearly everything to be advertisement free in my life, which means that until something is outright told to me, I tend to miss that it exists.  His Dark Materials is a new genre show that I had no concept of, so didn’t know it needed to go on our list.  If anyone finds any more of those, please, chime in!  The week is a bit more bare than usual, but we get to see Watchmen explain the past, Black Lightning have a father and daughter bonding episode, The Good Doctor tries to get laid, The Flash gives us the first half of a two parter leading into Crisis, Arrow tries to restart his game, Riverdale acknowledges these kids are getting to old for high school, and Titans finishes its season.  We don’t get a description for Castle Rock nor The Mandalorian, but if you’re watching either you probably have a good idea what to expect from these episode.
