Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 17 November 2019

While we continue to get Discordant Content from Batwoman, Watchmen, Supergirl, Black Lightning, Flash, Arrow, and Titans from various sources, Disney+ launched, and their opening salvo fires both barrels of The Mandalorian, giving us two episodes a week, as well as non-fiction offerings like Marvel’s Hero Project.  If you like your heroes a bit less super, The Good Doctor is around to help, and if you like the other side of the spectrum, The Blacklist’s investigates money issues, and we get The Word in Castle Rock.  If you wanted comics but not heroes, you’re out of luck, but Riverdale did once hear about something from some similarly named comics.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 10 November 2019

Flash and Arrow take a by-week, but their Diligent Coworkers can pick up the slack as Batwoman get embraced by her city, Supergirl gets devious, Watchmen introduces a new character, Black Lightning deals with his family tragically, and the Titans play hangman.  The Good Doctor deals with a kid the the bubble and Riverdale’s is under a bad influence.  Castle Rock gives us Joy’s mother’s story, while American Horror Story is in a dead heat to the finale.  Blacklist gives us a governor who plays at being a magician.  In the best news, we get another Star Trek: Discovery short trip this week!

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 3 November 2019

Black Lightning and Flash take the week off, leaving extra time to take in the whole season four of She-Ra with my daughters that drops this week.  Even without their Dynamic Coworkers, Batwoman, Supergirl, Arrow, the Titans, and Watchmen keep the flame alive with new episodes.  Halloween’s ended, so we take a trip from Castle Rock to Eden, and on American Horror Story we get a heartwarming tale of three friends getting together.  Riverdale plays courtroom drama, while The Blacklist investigates The Matrix.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 27 October 2019

Last week, I was surprised by a new show that I hadn’t even heard was coming out, so I must ask: who watches the Watchmen?  If that isn’t enough Diverse Continuities, Batwoman expands her rogues gallery, Supergirl investigates her criminal fenemy, Black Lightning reintegrates at home, The Flash gets bloody, Arrow continues its victory lap with Thea’s return, and Titans, not content without a description, doesn’t give us a title, either.  In Castle Rock, we hope to get horror, Riverdale, the horrors of ancient video media scares everyone, and A.H.S. gives us unexplored camp horrors.  The Good Doctor alienates people, and on The Blacklist, Red goes to Cuba.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 20 October 2019

I hope you didn’t have any other plans, as there is plenty of television to keep those of us unpopular enough not to have Halloween party invites busy. If the Dire Crisis of Batwoman, Supergirl, Arrow, Flash, and maybe Black Lightning and the Titans coupled with the horror of 1984, Riverdale, the return of Castle Rock and watching The Good Doctor try to get to second base is took much, Will and Grace also will return to lighten the mood.  Personally, The Blacklist cheers me up pretty well, too.

October Countdown: One Cut Of The Dead (2017)

Zombies!

This is a subtitled Japanese movie, and I went into this movie almost entirely blind.  Jeremy of the SinCast had recommended it, only giving me the detail that it begins as your classic low budget horror movie, where we learn that the director has actually summoned real zombies, and your typical slasher ensues.  The gimmick is that it is entirely being shot in one take, and the third of the movie is entirely one shot.  Credits roll, and the movie changes into a movie about the movie being made, and gets much better.  While the One Cut movie is a zombie movie, the real movie is about making a movie and much less about horror.  We even get to see what was happening at the beginning and Continue reading →

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 13 October 2019

It’s getting Distressingly Crowded on the CW, as Arrow returns to stand along side Batwoman, Supergirl, Black Lightning, Flash, and Jorah Mormont Bruce Wayne (on Titans.)  If you aren’t feeling super heroic, The Good Doctor gives us a conspiracy theorist, and if you are feeling villainous, the killers at camp American Horror Story are preparing for a bad guy on bad guy fight, Red offers us some bad flowers on his Blacklist, and those wholesome American kids of Riverdale start their extra curricular activities.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 6 October 2019

We are off to the races this week, with the return of Supergirl, Black Lightning, Riverdale, and the Flash.  In case you didn’t think that was enough Depicted Coverage, even after mixing in the Titans, Batwoman premiers!  We also have The Good Doctor goes fishing, American Horror Story continues its summer at camp, and we get the second half of The Blacklist’s anagram story.
