The Gifted – S02E11 – meMento

Remember when I typed up the review for last weeks episode, my system froze, deleting it, and everyone was left in crippling melancholy for a week?  Me neither, since the review is right there, dated last week, and clearly not having been posted anachronistically.  It’s possible that I have some memory damage, there is an X shaped tattoo here.

There is a review for this week’s episode, where our four groups begin to shift down to two and the past helps give the present some Continue reading →

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) Review

Odds are good you grew up with Spider-Man.  He was made when you were a kid, you watched his cartoon, slept on his sheets, and left the house wearing him on your butt.  This is about Miles Morales, who is not your Spider-Man, he’s the new Spider-Man.  To introduce us, they bring in our Peter Parker Spider-Man, but who has also aged with us, so now he’s a middle aged, divorced web-slinger with a bit of a gut.  To flesh out the story, we get Spider-Gwen, the young punk version of  the original Spider-Man’s girlfriend with Spidey powers, and just to flesh it all out we also have the 1930 black and white Spider-Man Noir, Peter Porker the Spectacular Spider-Ham, and Peni Parker, the anime Spider-Mech pilot.  With all of this, obviously there is something for everyone, or did you need some Continue reading →

Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 16th December 2018

The dark of the year has hit the shows, while only the darkest (Titans) is still working this year.  In case you missed it last week, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina revives the tradition of yuletide ghost stories for the longest night of the year, but otherwise we get a nice long festive break.

Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 9nd December 2018

The big Elseworlds crossover event happens, but apparently is happening without the Legends this year as it’s just The Flash, then Arrow, then Supergirl, and some other DC big names.  Meanwhile, Legends try to keep secrets, and Black Lightning get into the holiday spirit.  Titans gets back to our core cast and examine some aliens.  Marvel takes the rest of the year off, but Archie does double duty as the Gryphons & Gargoyles affects more people.  Also, Sabrina returns for a holiday special, since 🎼🎵It’s beginning to look a lot like Sol-stice🎶!

Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 2nd December 2018

First story’s are wrapping up in preparation for next week’s crossover in the DCETVU1, and at least for the two first two shows, we get a bonus scene apparently set in the Flash of the past.  Supergirl has Manchester Black meet his nemesis.  Arrow shows us how Oliver readjusts to his new, post-incarceration status quo.  The Legends gives us Constantine’s backstory and some interpersonal drama.  The Flash, the current one, goes back to the past, but not the 90s past.  Black Lightning and the Lightning family discover the Lightning Teen’s disappearance.  Titans revisit the Hawk and Dove back when they weren’t heroes.  In the mutant corner of Marvel’s television promises some major shake-ups.  In the dark television version of Riverdale, we get a man dressing to match their tone.

Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 25th November 2018

Now that DC Universe has begun its own shows and is announcing things like Swamp Thing, Doom Patrol, and Stargirl, we may be getting to the saturation point, or are we?  How many hours a week can fans take?  If the answer is eight, this week is a good one, as James joins a hate group on Supergirl, Arrow finally gets out of prison, Biff joins his son to fight along side Earnest Hemingway, The Flash team has to weather some family drama, Black Lightning takes on the mind controlled, and Wonder Girl gets a backdoor pilot for this week’s Titans.  The Gifted ventures into the other side of the X-Gene, and those “kids” in Riverdale keep arguing with their parents.

Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 18th November 2018

While the Diverse Champions soldier on through the American Thanksgiving holiday, Archie and Marvel take the week off.  Supergirl has a televised debate, a guard is murdered on Arrow, the Legends find Kaiju in Tokyo, the B team on Flash find some clues, Black Lightning faces white lightning, and the Titans visit an Asylum.  I have a backlog, which is only going to get deeper as Turkey Day brings a new Mystery Science Theater 3000 marathon!
