After months of secret planning and preparation, the Inner Circle blows the doors off their bank vault, as everyone else attempts to have character moments. I’m sure the word “attempts” gave away the tone of the review, but for the rest of the details there is still Continue reading →

Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 11th November 2018
The weeks seem to be flooding faster than it is possible to keep up with all of these shows. Which of these do you Bureaucrats watch? Did you watch Supergirl fight a suped up version of that thing from Star Trek 2? Did you watch Gene Simmons guest star on Arrow? Did you watch a bunch of middle age adults try to pretend to be kids on either Riverdale or Legends? Did you enjoy the family issues of the Flash family? How about Black Lightning working with his daughter, or Titan’s attempt to visit as many of their DC properties as possible? Do you come here to chat about Gifted while waiting for the lazy reviewer to watch and post the detailed review?

The Gifted – S02E06 – iMprint
The Purifiers have come out in force, with some smarter-than-your-average-cannon-fodder plans, as well as our three-in-one girls sharing their backstory. You’d think we’d seen the last of Daddy Strucker not having control of his power, but wait, there’s Continue reading →
Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 4th November 2018
While The Flash and Black Lightning take a week off to read Blaine’s review of Daredevil, Supergirl introduces Manchester Black in a way that makes it clear that you should know who that is, presumable from some comics. Arrow continues chasing last seasons big bad, while the Legends of tomorrow visit the British punk scene, where Constantine should feel at home, but is instead entirely underused. The Titans start working as a team. In the X side of things, we get the Stepford Cuckoos Frost Triplets backstory. Riverdale way back into the old people’s ancient past (the 90s) to see the games they played.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – Season 1
First they began a horror comic called Afterlife with Archie where Jughead talks Sabrina into helping him bring his dog back to life after Reggie runs him over. She does, and accidentally unleashes a zombie plague on Riverdale. This was dark, well illustrated, and popular. This lead two a spin-off, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which brings the formerly bubbly half-witch into a dark world where witches actually worship the lord of hell, devour babies, and hang out with goblins disguised as animals. This show has about as much in common with the fun, after school show of the nineties as Riverdale does to the Archie comics of the fifties.

The Gifted – S02E05 – afterMath
We see the introduction on the mental asylum escapees, which seem to be into some crazy flirtations. Was love in the air or is this the beginning of a new X? To find out, read Continue reading →
Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 28th October 2018
Halloween has happened, which was why I was delayed with this post, but it doesn’t seem to have affected the comic based television as much as you would expect, except that Sabrina was released. Supergirl teases her cousin, Arrow keeps working without Arrow, the Legends lean into the magical side of things, The Flash explores what it means to be meta, Black Lightning’s situation continues to degrade, the Titans visit even more DC properties, while the Gifted introduce romances. Riverdale takes the week off to Enjoy catching up on Sabrina’s new show.

Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 21th October 2018
We are entering a golden age of comics on TV, maybe not due to quality, but definitely due to quantity. Supergirl gets a new villain of the week, Arrow continues his Heroes in Prison story, Constantine joins the Legends (Yeah!!), The Flash threatens to kill a favorite character, Black Lightning lets his daughters do the heroing, and Titans gives us some backstory. The Gifted took the week off (presumably because they’re behind on watching Daredevil, too,) and Riverdale trends towards more Halloween horror in order to make its sister show, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, feel welcome when it drops on the 26th.

The Gifted – S02E04 – outMatched
Since we did not get a new episode this week1, I saved this review to help with the withdraw symptoms, at least until I wanted all of you Bureaucrats to read and comment and spend more time on the site, so I began flooding you with what you want. For the proper review, read Continue reading →
Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 14th October 2018
While I am still waiting for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina joins us on the 26th, but there is a lot to watch in the build up, including the entire third season of Daredevil, and new show Titans that I missed letting you know about last week. Supergirl and Arrow return as well, as Kara takes her turn as a mild manner reporter, and Oliver is the new black as Arrow starts out in prison. The Flash spends some quality time with his adult daughter, and Jefferson leaves his principal job on Black Lightning. Titans adds two more “heroes” to the four they introduced in their pilot last week.
In other universes, The X-Millenials try to get some more allies as the aforementioned Devil of Hell’s Kitchen returns to after having gone missing. Riverdale begins setting up new storylines with their second episode instead of their first for this season.
