Well, at least in some parts of the world, it’s June 21, and people have already started reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I envy those of you with plenty of free time to do so… in the interim, we’ve thoughtfully provided this big open forum for you to discuss this book. At 900 pages or so, has Miss Rowling put together a better book, or just a bigger book? And how many American readers will recognize what “Ordinary Wizarding Levels” exams are supposed to represent?

Heloooooo it’s me again
Did ya hear the one about the deaf guy and the gay guy?
Update: Someone in my office posted this. This is what I get for leaving
myself logged in there. Remember, folks, there’s a “Log Out” link, which I’ll have to start paying more attention to.
In the meantime, I don’t know who was posing as me, but they’re gonna get dead. (In the meantime, I’m leaving this story up for hysterical porpoises.)
Firefly not dead yet
y42 writes, According to a Sci Fi Wire interview with Nathan Fillion, there is definatly a DVD in the works (details are given), and there is a possibility of a silver screen Firefly movie! Let us rejoice : )
Review: The Matrix Reloaded
I’ve tried to keep the review relatively spoiler-free, but the discussion will probably get you more spoiled than a $5000 gift certificate to Mr. Bulky. Hey, why are you still reading this? Go see the movie already.

For lucky best wash, use Mr Sparkle!
This is just plain weird. I’m pretty sure they’re advertising soy sauce, but it’s full of wacky super-heroics! Filed under “Ask the Bureau” because the question is, what were they thinking?
MTV Movie Awards Nominations
America’s least respected awards show? Ehh, it’s a judgment call. Anyway, they do have good taste in movies. “Spider-Man” and “The Two Towers” lead the pack with five nominations each. This is the awards show that features such prestigious categories as “Best Villain” (for which Spidey’s Willem Dafoe is rightfully nominated) and “Best Kiss” (which is just what it sounds like…)
The complete list of nominees, and your opportunity to stuff the ballot, is on mtv.com. Hey, at least in “Best Fight,” they’re giving Yoda his props.
Review: “Spirited Away”
Disney realized, with Princess Mononoke, that
Americans will pay for quality translations of good
anime. Is Spirited Away another winner? (Well,
not according to the box office receipts, but what
do they know?)

Firefly on SciFi UK?
Could just be a random message board posting, but… on Fox’s official Firefly board (yup, it’s still running), someone claiming to be Mark Sheppard (who played Badger in two episodes of Firefly) says that the UK’s SciFi channel will be airing Firefly in May. (The little gavel icon in that posting allegedly means that the poster really truly is associated with the show, for what little that may be worth.)
Movie Review – "Daredevil"
Minor spoilers follow. Sorry ’bout that. They’re spoiler-protected and
everything, unless you use Lynx or a Braille reader.

Harry Potter 5: June 21, 2003
And it’s about time… BBC News says the fifth Harry Potter book, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” will be released on June 21 (it’s a Saturday, by the way). It’ll also weigh in at something like 255,000 words, about 1/3 larger than the hefty “Goblet of Fire”.
