Arrow follows last week’s strong offering with a choppy and frequently cheesy episode. “Heir to the Demon” does deliver on important story developments, however, and it devotes a fair bit of time to the Canary, and to a lesser-known daughter of Ra’s al Ghul.

J.K. Rowlings has stated that Hermione should have ended up with Harry, and that her pairing with Ron had more to do with wish-fulfillment than credibility.
Ham on Nye
If you haven’t yet heard, Bill Nye the Science Guy will debate Ken Ham the Creationist Champ this week at the Creation “Science” Museum. Is this even a good idea?
Holy Alternate History!
Most comic fans know that Bill Finger had as much to do with Batman as creator Bob Kane. Now, someone shows what the Dark Night might have looked like without Finger’s touch.
Maybe she’s bullying the wrong target?
A mother of a boy who has been bullied for his thick glasses has succeeded in getting Tesco to pull their nerd line of clothing. Presumably, the ones already sold will soon become geek collectables.

Movie Discussion: I, Frankenstein
The feature adaptation of the graphic novel inspired by (arguably) the first SF novel opened to poor reviews and mediocre box office.
Will the Bureau add to the discussion, or are we just going to bolt?
Comic Review: The Mocking Dead #1-5
This isn’t one of your Dungeons & Warcrafts Games, Nerdboy!
With Walking Dead down until February 9, people who still don’t feel entirely swarmed over by zombies have to find their cannibal corpse kicks elsewhere. And while you might not think anything original can be done with the zombie apocalypse, Dynamite’s five-part series, Mocking Dead manages to be a little bit different—and frequently, quite funny. And while the title, art, and genre suggest a certain zombie franchise, this isn’t a direct parody of any one zombie story, but an entertaining comic that draws from the entire genre to tells its own story.
Is it worth the back issues—or the inevitable trade paperback?
Arrow Review: “Blind Spot”

Novel Review: The Shining Girls
South Africa’s Lauren Beukes might be one of the best genre writers of the early twenty-first century, but I prefer to think of one of its best writers, regardless of genre. Her third novel may be her best to date, a beautifully-crafted, thoughtful work about time-travel, a serial killer, and the young women he stalks.
Arrow Review: “Blast Radius”
Arrow returns to television and has a blast.
Holy Home Viewing! The 60s Batman is due for release!
Beloved and reviled, the campy 60s Batman will finally be available for home viewing!
And it may be a better bet than the forthcoming Fox Teenage Batman series, Gotham.
