A couple of years ago, I reviewed The Exorcism of Emily Rose, and Damien noted that the film begged comparisons with An American Haunting. We missed it at the time and forgot about it when we got to the Halloween reviews, so it’s going to be this weekend’s review. The story begins with a frightened girl on a snowy winter’s day.

Novel Review: The Stars My Destination
The Burning Man opened his tiger mouth. A grating sound emerged. It was like flaming laughter.
“She hurts,” he said.
We’ve been a bit content-lite this week, with so many genre shows on hiatus, so I’m posting this review of one of the classics of SF literature. Alfred Bester won the first Hugo for The Demolished Man and wrote the Green Lantern Oath for DC comics, but many feel his greatness lies in this book, a complex tale of revenge, teleportation, and a prophetic Burning Man.

Review: DC Universe Holiday Special

HAWKGIRL: You already had a nuclear defabrophibulator.
The misleading #1 on the cover actually marks this as a “one-shot,” which is equally misleading because DC has been doing holiday specials intermittently for decades.
The 2008 offering features some strong art, a few passable stories, and a lot of filler.
Commercial Spaceport Approved
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has approved the first commercial spaceport, in New Mexico. The New Mexico Space Authority expects Virgin Galactic to begin regular suborbital flights in the near future.
Majel Barrett passes to Final Frontier
Majel Barrett, wife of the late Gene Roddenberry and the only person to be a part of every incarnation of Star Trek to the present, has died. She was 76.
