Now it’s time for me to come back to the Tokyo Babylon reviews, with the series’ 3rd to last volume. As the series starts to come to a close, does it continue to provide some social commentary on the state of Japan (when the stories were written), or does the series push that aside in favor of the main plot? Record of Lodoss War Rescued By Media Blasters
I’ve previously reviewed Record of Lodoss War, and, since the demise of Central Park Media I’ve called for someone to re-licence it. Finally, at last, my prayers have been answered. Central Park Media News was first to report (with articles from Anime News Network coming later) that at long last, Record of Lodoss War has been saved from Limbo by Media Blasters. Not only has the OVA series that I’ve previously reviewed been licensed, but the follow-up television series which hews a little closer to the books has been rescued as well.
Now the only title on my list of old CPM licences that needs rescuing is the Patlabor OVAs and TV series. My fingers are crossed…
Anime Review – Ah! My Goddess Season 1
So, being that today is Valentine’s Day, it seems apropos to have a review of a romantic comedy that’s also genre. In this case, it’s the most recent adaptation of the long running romantic comedy manga “Ah! My Goddess”. Well, the first season anyway.

Weekend Review – SDF Macross II (OVA)
This week I’m reviewing the second installment (sort-of, it’s been made non-canon) of the Macross series, appropriately titled, Macross II. Is was it worthy of being affiliated with the Macross universe (albeit having been shuffled out of canon to a sort of “elseworlds” status), or was its banishment from canon merited? Continue reading →
Manga Review – RG Veda Volume 2
This week I have a review of RG Veda’s second problem. Yasha’s band of outlaws grows by a few members, and we get some more backstory for Ashura. Is this enough to push this volume above the prior volume’s lackluster score? Continue reading →
Weekend Review – Appleseed (2004)
As many other franchises have received in the past, the Halo series is getting an anime compilation DVD – collecting various shorts in the universe – one of these directed by Shinji Aramaki, who directed this movie. So, how good is it (this movie)? Continue reading →
