EW picks top “ten” X-Files

Entertainment Weekly has come up with their list
of the top ten episodes of The X-Files.
You can read that list here.
I agree with some, but not all of their picks.
I’ll run my own top ten, but I think I’ll wait
until after the series finale. One of these last
two episodes just might make the list, after all.

Buffy ending for real?

As many of you know, Joss Whedon hates unfinished
stories, so he plots every season of Buffy and
Angel as though it were the last. Well,
according to this
article
, Nicholas Brendon says that the
seventh season of Buffy, which airs on UPN
starting in September, will be the last. The
reasons he gives sound pretty sensible, and very
believable.

Movie Review – Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.

dram
writes, I got to see a press screening of
Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. I
have written a review but it is the first time I
have ever delved this deeply into a movie,
hopefully you enjoy it. I have left out all
spoilers, I make reference to one specific part
of the movie but it was in the trailers, so don’t
worry about it. Read the review and go see the
movie, if you are unsure if you want to see it
opening day, all I have to say is buy your
tickets now. The sort of it is that this movie
was far better than Episode I and I thought it
was better than Spider-Man.

The Future of Trek Films

Cinescape has a piece from Rick Berman on the future of Star Trek on the big screen. Sort of reconfirms what we heard a few weeks back from Ira Behr.

Basically if they are going to feature other characters, it will be an mix of casts and ships/locations. Not really the thing I want to hear, each cast has their own feel, and relationship with each other. This really isn’t a mix-and-match sort of thing.

More Daredevil News

Cinescape
has an interview with Ben Affleck about
Daredevil. It sounds promising. The
fact that he asked them to give him contact
lenses that blind him is a strong indication, to
me, that they’re taking this very seriously and
want to do it right. Read the full article here.

Spider-Man makes a record or two

This is unbelievable. Those of you who read Slashdot might
have seen that Spider-Man did well at
the box office, as reported here.
If you didn’t click on the article you might not
know how well. It grossed an estimated $114
million in the first three days. To put that in
perspective, the previous record for a three day
opening was Harry Potter, with $90.2.
The second highest grossing film in the box
office this weekend was The Scorpion
King
with $9.6 million. I’ve seen gaps
between first and second place before, but the
first place film took in almost twelve times what
the second place film took in. I’m very
interested in seeing what the numbers for the
Attack of the Clones opening weekend
will be like.
