I read today on AnimeVice.com that Daisuki Gouri, who readers of my anime reviews will recognize as the voice of Hiromi Yamazaki of Mobile Police Patlabor, and one of the two voices for Mari in the Project A-Ko series, died recently, of an apparent suicide.

Video Game Review – Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune (PS3)
It’s safe to say that most Indiana Jones games that didn’t use the SCUMM engine weren’t particularly very good. Well, shortly after the launch of the PS3, one of the first PS3 titles to come from a 3rd party developer (though from a first party publisher) was Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, a game that tried to have the Indiana Jones style, but with some modern sensibilities, and a modern setting. When the game came out, the game got good review scores, was considered to be a system seller, and frankly did well enough to get a sequel which came out last year. So, I’ve played the game, and I like it – but does it have that good Indiana Jones feel?
Comic Review – Tokyo Babylon Vol. 4
Moving back along to Tokyo Babylon, I’m continuing to the series fourth installment. This installment brings us a stand-alone story, and a another two-chapter story arc.

Video Game Review – Bayonetta (PS3)
That’s right. We’ve got another review of a video game basically a week after the game came out. In this case, it’s Bayonetta, the new action from from Platnium Games (which is made up of the team which made Okami, God Hand, and Viewtiful Joe), and specifically from the creator of Devil May Cry. Does it hold up to its pedigree, or does it kind of fall down on its face?
JJ Abrams Star Trek Sequel Gets Release Date
ComingSoon.net has reported that JJ Abrams as yet untitled sequel to Star Trek (which I’m going to call Star Trek XII for now, to avoid confusion), has gotten a release date for Fourth of July Weekend, 2012.
Comic Review – Nightschool Vol. 1
When I was attending Kumoricon this year, attended a Q&A panel held by Svetlana Chmakova, one the new wave of Western artists following in the footsteps of Adam Warren and Fred Perry by putting out OEL (or Original English Language) manga. At the panel I learned about Chmakova’s latest work, an Urban Fantasy series being published through Yen Press, with chapters being serialized through their magazine. I’ve liked her not quite genre (but fandom related) series DramaCon, so I’ve picked up the first installment. Continue reading →

Video Game Review – Batman: Arkham Asylum
As 2009 comes to a close, I and my new Gamefly subscription are going to get started catching up with some of the games from 2009 and earlier. Today we ring in the New Year with Batman: Arkham Asylum, a game that has been lauded by other members of the gaming press as the best Batman game of all time. Well… being that I’m not other members of the gaming press, let’s see what I think. Continue reading →
Weekend Review – SDF Macross II (OVA)
This week I’m reviewing the second installment (sort-of, it’s been made non-canon) of the Macross series, appropriately titled, Macross II. Is was it worthy of being affiliated with the Macross universe (albeit having been shuffled out of canon to a sort of “elseworlds” status), or was its banishment from canon merited? Continue reading →
