This week I’m taking a break from all things CLAMP in the manga reviews for something slightly different, an alien invasion manga, published in the US in the mid-90s by Dark Horse. Continue reading →

Gurren Lagann is on Hulu
So, previously I’ve reviewed Gurren Lagann. Prior to my review, and to a certain extent, after my review (they’re repeating it) it was also aired on the Sci-Fi Channel’s Ani-Mondays block. Well, now Hulu has is available, in dubbed form, for streaming as well. I have the first episode embedded below the cut. Enjoy!
EDIT: So, apparently WordPress isn’t playing well with embedding video from Hulu, so I’m putting a direct link instead.
Weekend Review – Ranma 1/2 (Season 1)
So, I’m now moving on to one of the longest running romantic-comedy action series in the history of anime – Ranma 1/2. Specifically, the series first season, before the love triangle became became a Cat’s Cradle, and you could tell what the character relationships were without a wiki. Continue reading →
Manga Review – Tokyo Babylon Vol. 1
I’m continuing with the CLAMP reviews with the first volume of Tokyo Babylon vol. 1. Why, yes, I am reading a whole bunch of manga at once. That said, being that this series ties in heavily to their later series, X/1999, I might as well read it before I continue to X. So, does this series lay the ground work for greater things to come? Continue reading →
Manga Review – RG Veda Vol. 1
I previously reviewed the first volume of CLAMP’s universe-jumping series Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle. As the series is going to be putting out a lot of references to other CLAMP works, I’ve decided to get caught up on some of CLAMP’s old stuff. Yes, a lot of the references will be accounted for in the translator’s notes, but sometimes it’s good to not have to rely on the translator’s notes. So, what better place to begin than at the beginning – CLAMP’s first original work, R.G. Veda. For the first volume of a first series, how does it hold up? Continue reading →
Weekend Review – Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Solid State Society
So, after a break for Halloween, we’re going to wrap up our Ghost In The Shell anime reviews with the final installment of the the franchise (until they put out another one) – the movie spin-off of the TV series – Solid State Society. Does the franchise wrap up with a satisfactory conclusion, does it leave us hanging, or worse, does it leave us with a sour taste in our mouths? Continue reading →
Weekly Digital Disk Picks – November 3, 2009
Studios get ready for Christmas shoppers in November, as you can tell by the flood of new collections and reprinted single volumes. This is the longest list we’ve had in a while.
Halloween Review – In The Mouth Of Madness
So, this Halloween, the first of our movie reviews is a John Carpenter homage to the work of H.P. Lovecraft titled In The Mouth of Madness. See, I can do reviews of movies which aren’t Anime.

Manga Review – Tsubasa Vol. 1
At the start of this month, I reviewed the first volume of one of CLAMP’s most recent manga, XXXHolic. That manga tied in to the first volume of CLAMP’s other major manga starting around the same time XXXHolic started – “Reservoir Chronicle Tsubasa”. I’ve now read the first volume of that comic. So – how does CLAMP’s universe jumping comic start out? Continue reading →
Video Game Review – Brutal Legend
I’ve got another video game review for you, and one for a game that’s actually rather current (having been released just over a week ago). The game is Brutal Legend, and it’s the latest game from Tim Schafer, who put out Psychonauts. I’ve previously covered news articles about the game’s trials and tribulations in coming to market. The question is, was it worth the wait? Continue reading →
