Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2019 July 28

The Breakroom TV gives with one hand, in this case giving us Pennyworth, the story of a Bat-butler, and takes with the other, as Agents of SHIELD finish their short sixth season.  There is a confirmed seventh and final season for SHIELD, but that isn’t due anytime soon.  Meanwhile, we do get more Legion, focusing on Syd this episode, while Supergrandpa fight Zod’s army on Krypton.  On Elementary, Sherlock calls his evil dad to help him deal with evil social media, and Swamp Thing takes out some mercenaries.  Also, if you are into shows aimed at my daughter’s demographic, She-Ra’s next season is reportedly dropping, too.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2019 July 21

The heat of summer hasn’t slowed the few programs down at all.  Legion reminds us how strong he is as he goes to war.  Supergrandad continues his war against Zod as the God/Zod puns continue.  Sherlock Holmes faces, or possibly works with, a god.  The Swamp Thing is anatomically correct.  The SHIELD Agents revisit their past.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2019 July 14

Summer continues to stretch on, hopefully allowing you plenty of time to enjoy the small tidbits of genre television we are getting.  Legion continues to try to cause some paradoxes, while Supergrandad fights the paradox he’s been trapped in all season.  Elementary further explores the Joan/Sarek connection.  Swamp Thing reveals his heroism.  At S.H.I.E.L.D., their victory party winds down when they realize they still have a lot to clean up.

Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019) Review

Fresh off the climatic end of Marvel Cinematic Universe phase 3 with Avengers: Endgame, we get a much more gentle coda as Peter Parker decides to go on his class trip to Europe.  Also, a new hero named Mysterio emerges.  If you are still worried about spoilers for Avengers: Endgame, avoid this movie and this review.  If you are worried about spoilers for Far from Home, there are lots of twists and surprises it would be difficult to review it without saying Continue reading →

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2019 July 7

I wouldn’t call it a dull week, but the studios certainly think we have better things to do than watch television.  I don’t of course, so I am still digging through Stranger Things.  We’ll take a break for the crazy of Legion, and to watch the hostage negotiation on Krypton.  Sherlock and Joan revisit their past crimes solved, and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finish their two-parter.  (The other shows aren’t giving me a synopsis, so they don’t get mentioned.)

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2019 June 30

We get an extra day off this week in the United States to fire off Chinese inventions to celebrate Brexit 1776, the breakup with the country that is typically its closest ally.  We’ll need that extra time as Stranger Things season 3 drops.  Legion continues giving us his brand of artful crazy, Young Justice returns, the Handmaid still has a tail, Supergrandpa returns to his Zod controlled home on Krypton, Sherlock and Joan investigate the criminals’ criminal, Swamp Thing learns to talk, and the SHIELD Agents get their own Gah Lak Tus.

But serious, who cares, Stranger Things is back!

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2019 June 23

If we can look up from that new game on our phones long enough for TV, we get Legion back for the last season.  Elsewhere, Handmaid and Swamp Thing don’t give us descriptions, again, while Sherlock and Joan work with a tech billionaire to start pre-crime.  The SHIELD Agents are are continuing their trip home.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2019 June 16

After a slow lead up to Father’s Day, the next weeks leads us back down just as slowly.  The Handmaid’s Tale gives us a description almost as detailed as Swamp Thing, Krypton gives us Lobo.  Elementary gives us Odin, but not that Odin.  SHIELD focuses on the reunion of Fitz and Simmons.  Next week, Legion joins Jessica Jones in giving us a third and final season.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2019 June 9

Now that you have weathered the dry spell of the last two weeks, this week you get the return of SHIELD, while supergrandpa returns on Krypton for their second season.  Handmaid’s Tale and Swamp Thing each give us new episodes, but don’t give us any descriptions or even episode titles.  Elementary continues the hunt for their friend’s would-be killer.  If that isn’t enough, we get the final season of Jessica Jones.  The trailer tells us she will be going up against Foolkiller this season.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2019 June 2

School’s out for summer, and TV’s out for the season.  I hope you didn’t rush through some of the streaming seasons, because this week we only have an episode of Elementary and an episode of Swamp Thing.  There’s also an animated return for Young Justice, if you’re desperate.  Next week isn’t much better, but the Agents return from their week off, and we get the first episode of Krypton (S02) and the last season of Jessica Jones.  Do you have anything else you’re watching in the meantime?

[edit] Sorry, I misread, Young Justice isn’t back for another month.

[edit, again] Handmaid’s Tale returned on the 5th, added it.
